Joseph J Zakowsky III
I grew up in Braintree, Massachusetts, just south of Boston. At the age of 13, I entered a vocational school for structural woodworking. After graduation, I began my self employment as a finish carpenter in our family construction business. I spent most of my years in the construction business. I worked during the day with all facets of carpentry. At night, I retreated to my wood shop to work on my guitars, my pride and joy. In the year 2000, my wife and I decided to move to Florida in order to fulfill my life long dream of manufacturing, marketing and promoting my custom made electric guitars all year round. I now live in Weston, Florida, just west of Fort Lauderdale.
About ten years ago, I began a crusade to manufacture a world class custom electric guitar. All you need to do is try it! It's all up to you...

The Story of Zakowsky Guitars
I began my quest approximately 10 years ago. I have spent countless hours reading, researching, playing and listening to guitars. My years spent in the finish carpentery business taught me so much about the superb qualities of wood. That knowledge along with long hours talking and listening to world class guitarist have given my product its own style. My guitars have be designed and redesigned over and over, due to my perfectionist nature. Believe it or not, if I felt that my guitar did not have a certain magic feel, during manufacturing, I would actually give the raw guitar wood to my sister. She would burn them in her woodburing stove in Marshfield, Massachusetts on cold winter nights. Finally, after years of research and development I am able to promote and market a guitar for the serious guitarist. Enjoy!

Over the years I have met some extremely knowledgeable people, from top class guitarists to the finest hard wood vendors. Every piece of wood used in the guitar is hand selected from only the top merchants. Each hand made instrument involves over 380 steps from start to finish.
